wacky gov

For those of you who live in Texas y'all have probably heard that the Texas legislature is wanting to make a law that girls once they reach 6th grade have to take a shot for HPV (human papilloma virus.)
To start i am a very conservative Christian. I admit the shot sounds good. A shot which could possibly cut down the number of people who contract cancer certainly sounds good to me. But I don't think its the governments responsibility to make it required. If i had daughters I would not even consider it myself because I think abstinence is just as good or better than a shot. Also I would want the choice whether it was administered to my children or not. Its not the governments place to tell me that my daughter once she reaches 6th grade has to have a shot for something which if i have done my job as Christian father should not even be a problem.

So if you got lost with all my rambling my problem is not with the shot but with the state wanting to require it being taken.

I will get off my soap box now.

I agree. What is the government going to tell us to do next? I find that more and more we're straying away from the kind of government our Founding Fathers intended: a hands-off government. It is the parent's responsibility to care for their children. It comes too close to the socialistic idea that the government knows best for my comfort.

You have a good point and a bad one. Right it is not the the governments job to demand what we inject into our bodies, but also if we can destroy genital warts that's cool too.
Like in the 90's when I was born the Gov'ment had 3 standard shots for newborns. One of them was to prevent hepatitis, but it only lasted for like 8 years, and the shot also had a High rate of death for infants. So unless I was gonna go out and party with a bunch of hookers with a juice box, It was useless.

I only bow to myself.
